Know which employee visa expires next — before it does

A residence visa is the document every other staff document hangs from. Madriat tracks each employee's visa expiry date and chases the renewal early enough for the medical, biometrics and stamping to fit in.

What happens when a visa lapses

A 30-day grace period applies after a residence visa expires; after that, overstay is charged for every day. The employer is left arranging a renewal under time pressure, often while the Emirates ID and labour card lapse alongside it.

Madriat shows the estimated exposure next to each document, so the list is ordered by what a missed date would actually cost. The figures are indicative estimates of typical GDRFA charges, not legal advice.

A renewal is five steps, not one date

Forty-five days before expiry Madriat opens a renewal task with the steps a residence visa actually takes: passport valid for at least six months, medical fitness test, Emirates ID application, health insurance active for the new term, and the visa stamped with its new expiry recorded.

Tick the steps as they happen. Recording the new expiry date closes the task and restarts the clock for the next renewal.

How the reminders run

• Nothing while a document has more than 60 days left — three months out is not news.
• An email every third day from 60 days out, to the person responsible for it.
• Every morning at 07:00 Gulf time from 20 days out.
• Three times a day — 07:00, 12:00 and 17:00 — in the last 5 days, and after expiry until it is renewed.
• Inside the last 10 days it goes to everyone on the account, or the department manager, flagged urgent.
